Charlie and KO1 Promotions Help Dylan
Dylan Godfrey is a cute little five year old boy who has
suffered from a rare form of brain disorder called Lissencephaly
from birth. I'm afraid there is currently no treatment for
this condition and most children only survive into their
teens before succumbing to respiratory problems. He can't walk or talk or understand language and
needs 24 hour care and attention. Dylan is the son of Darren
Godfrey, Charlie's cousin, so Charlie decided to do
something for them. Charlie's good friend Ian Frost of KO1 Promotions set up a
night of Championship Semi-Pro Boxing, attended by many of
Charlie's family, friends and supporters and an auction was
held of art donated by Charlie and other goodies from
Charlie's family and friends which raised over £1,500 to help care for young Dylan.
Here's the story from two perspectives:
| Boxing Promoter Ian Frost says: On
Saturday September 11th at Moulscoomb Leisure Centre
in Brighton KO.1 Promotions with freebronson.co.uk
put on a marvellous night of Championship Semi-Pro
Boxing. Among the numerous bouts we had an auction
of Charlie’s art-work with a signed Mike Tyson glove
plus a Tom Hardy signed Bronsonwear t-shirt encased
in a fetching frame (kindly donated by Dave Taylor).
The evening went well, all concerned had a great
time but the case in point is Charlie himself.
How can this man still warrant being locked up 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? He
behaves in the prison, minds his Ps and Qs and just
wants to come home to a loving and supportive family
and friends. Charlie phones me regularly and I, as a
boxing promoter, can honestly say I find him nothing
like this so-called Luton hard case that the media
have portrayed him to be. He’s a sensitive chap with
a good heart who really wanted to see my night go
well and earn a few quid for his cousin Darren
Godfrey’s five year old son Dylan, who suffers from
Lissencephaly and needs 24 hour round the clock
care. That is a decent man in my book … or any other
book! And I don’t make statements like that lightly.
I’m not jumping on the Charlie Bronson propaganda
bandwagon; I have no agenda for that! But one thing
I do have is a terrible sense of injustice! Live and
let live has always been my manifesto and, dare I
say raison d'être. It’s time to seriously look at
Charlie’s case and consider freeing him. 35 years is
long enough for anyone. I remember hearing when I
lived abroad in Spain that if a convicted prisoner
won the Spanish National Lottery the Spanish
Government would release them because they had no
reason to go back to crime.
Charlie Bronson is now a recognised artist and
author and is hardly going to re-offend. I appeal to
the people at the top to reconsider Charlie’s
plight. It’s about time to set the guy free.
Thanks for reading this heartfelt statement.
Kind regards,
Ian Frost

| Charlie's Cousin Stuart Godfrey writes:
I would like to say on behalf of the Bronson family
a big massive thank you to all the people that came
to the Brighton boxing event on Saturday 11th
September.
It was a great evening of entertainment and we all
had a great time. The support for Charlie was
fantastic and very much appreciated. We owe a big
thank you to Ian Frost and co. for organising the
event, it took a lot of hard work to pull off
something like this, so thank you Ian.
We would also like to thank Mark Williams and Dave
Taylor for all the time and effort they put in for
Charlie and for the fantastic items they put in to
the auction. The biggest thank you goes to the
people that managed to get items in the auction
which took place. we raised a large sum of money for
the "Dylan Foundation". Charlie chose this charity
for all proceeds from the auction to go to, what an
amazing man. We hope that people who read this know
that this is what the real Charlie is all about,
helping the people that need help, so again a big
thank you to you all.
Dylan is a beautiful 5 year old little boy who is
much loved and suffers from a condition called "Lissencephaly".
This means he is unable to walk, communicate and has
a mental age of just 9 months old. some of the money
raised is going towards the lease of a specially
adapted mobility car and additional physiotherapy.
Charlie is a giant of a man with a giant heart to
match. When he hears of children suffering he just
wants to try and help the best he can. This is the
side of Charlie the media never choose to report on.
There will be more events in the pipeline, so we
hope you all come along and continue your fantastic
support for Charlie.
Regards
Stuart Godfrey |
