Ron Greedy and Chris Reid

Both these guys are living legends ... survivors. I met both of them in Broadmoor Asylum in the late 70's. Both spent over twenty years there. Chris made it out and made a good life for himself and he often visits me. But Ron ... Ron's been away for FIFTY YEARS! Yes, half a century in all the "special" asylums. His whole life has been institutions, but to me he's just a great guy with a big heart.

Chris often pays him visits and looks out for him. Ron's like the Birdman of Britain, but he's well cared for these days. Not like the Hell he survived in Broadmoor. But men like these two are real fighters, coz they never once gave up.

Chris and me often laugh about the bad times, but what else can you do? The more the System squeezed us the more we fought back ... and, on occasions, we fucking won! Not once did I rip the roof off Broadmoor ... I did it three times. I made them pay for our suffering. Unless you've lived in Broadmoor you will never understand us, coz it's another planet. One day you could be watching a bird on the lawn eating a worm's brains, the next day a lunatic could be eating your brains.

Chris is a man we all look up to. He's our inspiration coz he made it out and won! So anybody who has family in the asylum, tell them "Chris Reid made it ... so can you."

Ron's another kettle of fish altogether, but he's got one hell of a story to tell: FIFTY YEARS OF PORRIDGE! I've been telling him for years: "Write a book, Ron."
