CAT 'A' KNOCKBACK AGAIN - 18 May 2007

COMMENT FROM MAL
This is ridiculous!
The report says that, during the period, Charlie has
"interacted very well with staff", that he takes part in
some activities "available to him" and they acknowledge that
he "engages positively with the regime". But they reject a
downgrading of category based on the fact that he won't jump
through their hoops. They claim that, because he does not
take part in "offence focussed work", they cannot measure
any reduction in risk.
What utter bullshit! The definition of a Cat 'A' prisoner is
as follows:
A
Category A prisoner is a prisoner whose escape would be
highly dangerous to the public or the police or the
security of the state and for whom the aim must be to
make escape impossible.
Charlie is not "highly dangerous to the public or the
police" and there is no evidence to suggest that he is. The
general public, who do not know Charlie personally, might be
led to believe that he is because of the disgraceful and
salacious way our sensationalist national press tend to
report on him. He most certainly has never been a danger to
"the security of the state". Furthermore, Charlie has never
once attempted to escape from prison in all of the 34 years
he has been in prison.
The report says only positive things about Charlie's
behaviour. This is undoubtedly the Prison Service's way of
blackmailing Charlie into doing as he is told by them. It is
nothing short of vindictive. If Charlie was NOT Cat A then
they would not be justified in keeping him in solitary
confinement like an animal for year after year. While he's
in Solitary then the Parole Board are highly unlikely to
release him on licence. So, the Prison Service keep him Cat
A and condemn him to more Solitary and further years in
prison, when his tariff was up four years ago! On this basis
they could conceivably hold him until the day he dies.
I know that the Prison Service visit and read this website
and I stick by my words. You are being vindictive and
unreasonable in your treatment of Charles Bronson and it
time to review your OWN conduct.
