LETTER FROM TEL CURRIE - 19 November 2006
The
following is a message that Tel Currie, a staunch and long
term supporter of Charlie in his plight, sent to the Bronson
Event in Derby:
Good
evening everyone.
I am truly gutted that I can't be with you tonight but I'm
afraid it's unavoidable.
On a more positive note, I am overjoyed that you all have
come here tonight to support our good friend Charlie
Bronson. Of course, the powers that be would love it if
Charlie had no supporters. They would be dancing with glee
at the thought of Bronson being friendless. I can tell you
now, that will NEVER happen!
Charlie has no feelings of gratitude towards the fly by
nights, those that turn up on the scene making promises of
great things, then when the novelty has worn off after a
couple of months you never hear of them again.
Unfortunately, we have had to suffer too many of these
wasters. What we are is solid, loyal, energized people who
support Charlie and the freedom campaign because they know
that what is happening to him is wrong and are prepared to
fight for justice all the way.
We cannot turn our backs on the more emotional, complex
issues in this life and choose only to see the more
palatable sides. We would trade without hesitation a million
sheep for just one lion. We have no respect for those who
agree that Charlie's sentence is wrong but refuse to take
action convinced that somebody else will do the hard part
for them. Somebody who knows this is a travesty but will not
stand up and be counted is worse than someone who doesn't
know the facts. Those who don't know the facts but still
have their say are plain thick. Those who do know but won't
act are cowards. Being a coward is far lower than being
stupid.
We now have one of the best lawyers in the world on board,
Mr Giovanni Di Stefano. Giovanni is a dream choice for this
case. The man is a fighter who refuses to arse lick the
toffs. Those who have written Charlie off as a man who will
never be freed should now be seriously considering their
opinion. For those of you who don't know here's a few facts
about Charlie:
1) Charlie is NOT a killer. He has never killed anyone and
certainly has never been charged of murder. He was a robber.
Even when he was robbing, he never pulled the trigger. If
Charlie was the violent lunatic the law and media would have
us believe would he not of used the gun especially if the
robbery was not going smoothly?
2) Charlie was given life for taking a teacher hostage in
prison. A teacher who was unharmed and actually said he and
Charlie forged a bond. A teacher who should not have been in
that part of the prison but was let in by prison officers.
The prison officers knew that the teacher had made nasty
remarks about Charlie's art, they actually wound Charlie up
to do something: "That's the bloke that slagged your art
off, are not going to do anything?"
3) Charlie was in a fragile state of mind because he had
settled down in the unit at Hull prison and was reassured we
would be staying there. Shortly after, he was told the unit
was closing and he would be moved on. Charlie was suffering
from the shock of this when he took the teacher hostage, it
was in protest of the lies and deceit of the prison service.
4) Charlie is only allowed closed visits (behind bars). The
others in 'Monster Mansion' are allowed open visits and that
includes Ian Huntley, Roy Whiting (who killed little Sarah
Payne) and Victor Miller to name just three. There are also
children running around the play area in the monsters'
visiting room!!!
Anyone who is not disgusted by that are sick themselves.
I would like to send my love and respects to Charlie's
family. Charlie's wonderful mum, Eira, who is an inspiration
to us all and also Lorraine and Andy. Please make these very
special people feel welcome.
With the tireless support of you all we can look forward to
Charlie himself being at the next party. Then, we can recite
the words of Martin Luther King:
"FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST, THANK GOD ALMIGHTY... WE ARE
FREE AT LAST."
Thanks You
Tel Currie
